Hall County Republican Social

We had a great crowd at Poor Richards for our first Republican Social, and we basically took over the lower area.  Notable attendees were:  Sen. Lee Hawkins, Rep. Carl Rogers, Rep. Doug Collins, Comm. Billy Powell, Comm. Bobby Banks, Nate Morris (school board Post 4), DA Lee Darragh, and Judge Patti Cornett (probate court).  Candidates JC Smith (clerk of court) Dan Sammons (probate judge) and Chris Masters (County Commission Post 2) also attended.  Marshall Dick Mecum (former Hall County Sheriff and the first elected Republican in Hall County) was there too.  Sheriff Steve Cronic sent his regrets due to a scheduling conflict.  Several members of the Executive Committee were present as well:  Tommy Sandoval, Harold Nichols, Kim Hunter, Jim Pilgrim, Joe Hoopaugh, and Chris Yardley.

Thanks to Kim Hunter for reserving the venue for the gathering, Chris Masters for activating the “phone tree” to let people know about the event (his last official act as First Vice Chair because he had to resign to run for County Commission), and Robin Lambert for sending out a reminder email!

Gibbs to Provide More Interest to Clerk’s Race?

Just for interest, Jennifer Gibbs‘ husband came to pick up the forms for her to review to determine if she wants to qualify to run for clerk of court.  According to her husband, Jennifer is a CPA and is listed as the campaign treasurer for Superior Court Judge Bonnie Oliver’s re-election campaign.

UPDATE:  Jennifer and her Husband both joined the Hall GOP before she qualified to run.  I have checked her voting record and both she and her Husband have consistently voted Republican.  I (and other Hall GOP members have talked to her) and she appears to share our conservative views.

Tuesday is Over — Gibbs to Provide More Interest to Clerk’s Race?

Tuesday is over and the qualifications are over for the day.  We have faxed all the forms to the Supervisor of Elections.  Just in case anyone is keeping count, only one Democrat has qualified to run in our local elections so far.  Qualifications office will be open tomorrow, but I will be in court most of the day.  Updates will be delayed until I can access the net from afar.
